Information:
Whatever reason for connecting with the ocean, make that connection a commitment by volunteering your time with the Surfrider Foundation. It's a great place to meet and network with fun people! We always welcome volunteers of all ages to participate in this worthwhile cause.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of our Chapter Vice Chair kitty along with her loyal and dedicated volunteers, our beach cleanups have increased in size over the past 12 months to now averaging at least 50 per cleanup. They have also become an educational outreach to the local community, raising awareness about the state of our beaches. Most walk away smiling, and knowing that they will be back again, they felt good~!
Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts have all been to at least 2 cleanups in the past 6 months as are many of the local high school environmentalist groups/clubs as well as The Earth Club.
Several companies who came last year as their first time with this chapter and have come back and officiated this to be their Yearly Office Cleanup/Picnic.
If you are in need of community service hours, project work, mentoring for a project; then this is where it can begin for you or your group. We can help you achieve your goals and you while be making a difference too. We can also provide a Certificate of Completion for the hours that you attend and volunteer.

STUDENTS!! Do your projects, internships, or community service hours with Surfrider.
The Huntington/Seal Beach Chapter is always accepting students to do internships with our organization. All of our internships are unpaid volunteer positions, however the areas in which you can gain experience are extensive and invaluable. Scientific field research, state and local politics, advertising and public relations, education and conservation are just a sample of some departments you have the opportunity to participate in.
Intern positions within the chapter vary in length. Some are seasonal while others are ongoing. For more information on internships currently open, please contact any executive member of the committee in which you are interested on our Contact Page.
